S/V Yankee Vacay Photo Shoot

Caption: Behind the scenes of the Martinique photo shoot on-board the historic S/V Yankee.

There are a lot of beautiful things in this world, but sadly our last sailboat wasn't one of them (many catamarans aren't)!  However, the South Pacific scenery made up for it and we will never forget the voyage that inspired the creation of Vacay.  To combine the two would be a dream, and that's just what we did during our latest photo shoot!

Yankee, an incredibly beautiful and historic SF sailboat, served as the focal point of our last shoot.  Samantha, a good friend of ours, was kind enough to let us use her boat, one that has been in her family for generations.  For those of you that appreciate beautiful things, sailor or not, you have to appreciate the colorful history and beautiful lines of this 110 year old wooden sailboat!

While on board, Sam told us a little more about Yankee - and how many boats can say they were launched by the 1906 earthquake?!  She was being built in the marina district and the force of the quake shook her off the construction cradle.  She suffered a little damage, but was soon fixed up and re-launched.  Thereafter she dominated the off-shore SF to Farallon Islands race, for which she was built, and the trophy plaques inside share yet another interesting part of her past.  As you can see in the picture, two of the trophy's feature the Golden Gate passage, but the third proudly features the then new Golden Gate Bridge.  Pretty cool.

For our shoot we focused on the spacious and luxurious cockpit and starboard beam - and we think our new Martinique collection looked beautiful on-board.  It was one photo shoot that will be hard to beat!  Thank you Samantha for letting us use your beautiful boat.

Note the missing bridge in the 1938 and 1939 trophies, but then it makes it's glorious entrance in 1940!
